O Palácio do Buriti, inaugurado em 1969, tem seu nome derivado da planta símbolo de Brasília. Um espécime da planta foi plantado na praça em frente ao Palácio.
The Buriti Palace, inaugurated in 1969, takes its name from Brasília symbol plant. A specimen of the plant was planted in the square in front of the Palace.
Ele foi projeto pelo arquiteto Nauro Jorge Esteves para ser a sede do Governo do Distrito Federal. No entanto, em 2008, ele também serviu como sede do Executivo Federal devido a reformas que aconteciam no Palácio do Planalto.
It was designed by the architect Nauro Jorge Esteves to be the seat of government of the Distrito Federal. However, in 2008, it also served as the headquarters of the Federal Executive due to renovations taking place at the Presidential Palace.
À frente do palácio ainda existe uma réplica da Loba Romana. A obra foi oferecida a Brasília pela cidade de Roma, como um presente à sua inauguração em 21 de abril, mesma data de aniversário da capital italiana.
In front of the palace there is also a replica of the Roman Wolf. The work was offered to Brasília by the city of Rome as a gift to its establishment on April 21, the same date of anniversary of the Italian capital.
No gramado em frente ao prédio também está a escultura “Forma espacial do Plano”, de Ênio Liamini, doada pelo presidente da Argentina à época, Jorge Rafael Videla.
On the lawn in front of the building there is also the sculpture “Spatial form of the Plan,” by Ênio Liamini, donated by Jorge Rafael Videla, the president of Argentina at the time.
